Roble Stud 2010

July

30th

Looking forward to the BAPSH show tomorrow and Sunday.  I hope to get some video whilst i am up there which will be put on my facebook group - Roble Stud.

We have more foals to look forward to next year, two more mares have just been scanned in foal to Noggin.

Here are some photos of Orchid A???, Noggins 8th foal of the year.  Thank you to Sarah for the photographs.

22nd

Noggins 8th and final foal for 2010 was born yesterday afternoon. Sparkle had her first foal and produced a beautiful filly, believed to be a greying black.  Hope to add some photos soon.

21st

I think i have decided on the name Roble Durazno for the cheeky little chestnut chappy.  Ive just got to check that it isnt a swear word in other languages before applying for his inscription into the Spanish Stud Book.  I coulnd be wrong but i think Durazno is the Spanish for Peach which keeps on the themes of herbs/plants etc and also 2010 is the 'D' year.

Both Mum (Essie) and son are doing well.  You will never see them more than a few feet apart but he is not backward in coming forward for a scratch.

Other news....well the filly we have here on Livery, Euforica RPB has unfortunately had to be sold due to the owners personal circumstances so we will miss her when she leaves on Sunday.  I am pleased to say that she is going to a lovely experienced family home not too far away.  The advert was put online one afternoon and by midday the next day was sold.

We are hoping to have an open day at the neighbours stud in September, they have the advantage of a school down there so we decided it would be easier.  I intend to take my horses down and we will run a joint day, taking people through the stages of breeding and to let them know about the breed.  Not sure if it will all happen as it is early days but that is the current plan.

12th

Great news......Ninfea has been confirmed in foal to Bailaor XXV from the Yeguada Lago Stud. I am pleased as initially when we arrived with her in the evening, she wasn’t interested in him at all, even though from the scan we knew she was fully in season and ready to pop. Charlotte kindly allowed her to use a stable ov...ernight and put Bailaor next to her where he worked him magic and within a few hours he had won her over. I am very excited about the offspring the pair will produce as they are both lovely horses. Fingers crossed that she has a trouble free pregnancy. Thank you to Charlotte and her hubby.

Noggins Fourth and fifth foals have been born.  Lilly (TB)gave birth last thursday to a filly.  Encargarda (PRE) gave birth over the weekend to a filly also.

I now have photos of his second foal this year, born at the MARYSS PRE Stud.  Ultrafina is a PRE chestnut Dun filly out of Mill Mitica by our stallion Maryss Nogal (Noggin)

20th

Noggins third foal has been born at the Old Track stud.  Hopefully photos to follow shortly.

I would like to thank Sue Carden for all her help and support with the AI collections and inseminations.  This is becoming a more popular option for people with non PRE mares and her incredible success rate for us ensures that our reputation remains in tact and allows us to offer this service with confidence.  I would recommend her to anyone considering collecting from their stallion.

8th

Noggins second foal of the year has been born at Maryss PRE stud.   Mitica foaled in the early hours of this morning...more details to follow shortly.

I went to see Noggins first Aztec foal (PRE X QH) and the first foal of this year yesterday. He is beautiful, strong and lively. He put on a display for me leaping around as foals do which always makes me smile. He loves a good scratch too. Thank you to Maria for the invitation.  He is starting to get darker hair coming through in his mane and tail.  The mare was tested negative for silver so we presume he will be a normal buckskin.

15th

Yesterday evening Noggins first foal of 2010 was born.  Willow, a Quarter Horse was our first AI recipient and proved how simple it is.  One scan, one collection, one insemination and just over 11 months later, one beautiful foal.  Thanks to Maria for the phone call with the great news.  Photos to follow shortly.  Cant wait to meet him :-).

Other news, we are now approximately half way through lambing and they are popping out steadily.  I'm  looking forward to a full night sleep as soon as it is all over.

We now have a group on facebook where we can be more interactive.  We would love to hear from you all so if you search for Roble Stud you will find us.

27th

When i went out this morning the two little fillies were fast asleep.  The new one (Euforica) who is here on livery had her head on Cayena's shoulder using her as a pillow.  I wish i had my camera with me but alas as usual i didnt.

I put Noggin in with my mare Cenicienta so he has some company for a while.  Ceni's foal (Cayena) has just been weaned and ceni has just gone out of season so it was a good time to put them in together.  We had a couple of squeals and that was about it.  I know they get on well as they have lived together before.  They have been neighbours for the past few days so he knew she wasn't in season.  He looks a bit sheepish, like he has done something naughty and when Ceni comes to say hello, he looks a bit nervous and the first twitch of her ear he is heading in the opposite direction......sensible lad :-)

Well we couldnt ask for better weather.   We have a visiting filly who has come to make friends with the youngsters here and to have company.  She is getting on like a house on fire with Cayena and it is great timing as my girl is in the middle of being weaned (we do it over a period of a few weeks so there is no stress on digestive system or mentally.)  She now has a new play mate to take her mind off the fact that although mum is in the next door paddock she can't get to the milk.

The new girls owner was up with the camera the other day and took some lovely photos of my horses which she has kindly allowed me to use.

They are starting to loose their winter woolies but have come through the winter well.

21st

I am finally back online no thanks to my previous Internet Service provider.  So what has happened since February.... well forefront in my mind, mainly because i am struggling to walk today, is that i have started to ride Noggin again.  He has been ridden once in the past two years and i decided i should make time to get on and enjoy my beautiful horse.  As expected he took it all in his stride and appears to be enjoying it as much as i am.   I hope to take some video of him under saddle shortly.

Emigrante Santo has put on lots of weight after having been through a growth spurt.  I really must get a decent video of him as he has movement to die for.  We unfortunately have got into the habit of calling him Alan and we cant seem to stop ourselves so he may be lumbered with it forever more.  It came about because he didnt have a name when we bought him.  He became known as the Alazan (chestnut) colt.  That got shortened by a friend to Alan and now we cant stop it.

We have more lambs on the way shortly and our first visiting mare arrives at the beginning of May.  We are in a rush to rebuild our stables.  The originals were not built with a stud in mind so we have redesigned them and are making them more solid.

The first Noggin foal of the year is due next week.  I am really excited about seeing this years offspring.

Just a quick thank you to those mare owners who took the time to respond to my feedback form.  Ive still a few to send out but I appreciate all wonderful comments so far and its nice to know there are happy customers out there.  Fingers crossed for wonderful healthy foals.

31st Jan

Its those little moments that make me smile and all the hard work seems worth it.  This morning i took Noggin up the track to see a couple of the girls and a couple of youngsters.  When we got their, there was only one pile of hay left and all four in the field were stood side by side touching eating from the little that was left.   I know that if there had been more than one pile left the boss mare wouldnt have shared with anyone apart from her filly.  These horses really do have a lovely nature about them.  Anyway i will stop gushing now and go and footbath my sheep.

23rd Jan again

I treated myself to a new video camera the other day to get some decent shots of these horses.  Ive got to play with the video but here are a few pictures from today.

23rd Jan

The snow has gone, we now have running water again but i caught the lurgy so have been coughing and spluttering.  We have started with the enquiries for the 2010 stud season so i am excited about the opportunity to talk horses for hours again and show off my muddy wooley (but happy) horses.  Its a strange time because you really want to be able to present your horses in their best light but dont want to bath them and brush them within an inch of their life because they need all the oils for keeping warm.  Fortunately we have photographs of the non winterified versions to hand.   If you want to come and look at our stallion or youngstock for sale, or just for a cup of coffee and a chat about Spanish horses please get in touch.I look forward to meeting  you.

10th Jan

Some of Nogs field is on a slope so he hasnt been in for a few days whilst the snow has turned to an icy hard sloping skating rink.  I put him out today to stretch his legs in the round pen and took the camera.  I havent ever managed to take one of him rearing as he doesnt do it very often.

what with freedom, snow and the fact the mares have been in the round pen recently scenting it sweetly for him it was cause for playtime.  I had to laugh though, he knows its a little slippy underfoot so he was playing in what seemed like slow motion, being very careful and moving slowely with just a couple of displays.

6th jan

I cant believe we are in 2010 already.

For those of you that read the postings in 2009 you will know that we have had a recent addition to our stud farm.   We turned him out for the first time after he spent a couple of weeks in semi isolation (he had a companion to keep him happy). I took the video camera with me, and although the camera is very very old and the picture is rubbish it still made me laugh

As soon as the snow clears and the ground is a bit softer i will get one of him trotting.  It is amazing.
